6/30/01 - Site News: A Dutch company has
contacted us with news about their research. The following is an excerpt
from the e-mail about their treatment research: "MucoVax is a Dutch based
research and development company specializing
in the research of polyclonal antibodies against specific disease causing
micro-organisms in cow's milk and develops them into commercial products for
application in functional foods or nutritional supplements for oral passive
immunization of humans." "..instead of using colostrum." " MucoVax is
already successful in developing polyclonal antibodies against Vibrio Cholera
and Clostridium difficile." "The above-mentioned MucoVax product concepts
are still not commercially available. Preclinical research has been performed
with promising results. The next step is test our ingredient in clinical trials
for efficacy and safety." Very exciting news! We will keep you
posted as we get more info.
6/16/01 - Site News: We are in the process of refurbishing our site with a new look. The "Member Bulletin Board" Link has been removed because the Open Bulletin Board (original board) was exceedingly popular over the new one. We have many new changes in store in the new future with an aggressive re-design and update process.
6/08/01 - Site News: We are in contact with a Synsorb trials volunteer. She has positive comments. We will follow her progress. Due to government regulations, and under agreement with Synsorb, we must approve any specific comments concerning the trials. Stay tuned.
4/11/01 - Site News: The Database has been updated with 10 new cases. Go to the Important Research link on the home page table of contents to view them.
3/23/01 - Site News: We broke 11,000 hits! Here is another address you can access our site with: www.clostridiumdifficile.com . We have built a new bulletin board as well. It is located in Yahoo! Clubs. There is a link to it on our home page called "Member Bulletin Board" This new board will require people to sign up in order to post. It should reduce the possibility of having irrelevant posts and keep the number of serious users concentrated. We are keeping the original board available and active - it is now linked as "Open Bulletin Board" on our home page. Synsorb is still conducting Phase III and will notify us as soon as there are more changes. For those of you who suffer from IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) - we have built a Bulletin Board for you also there is a link to it on our Links page. Good News: GelTex is a company based in the Eastern United States which is doing studies for treatments of C. Diff. They have completed a Phase I Safety Study in normal participants. Now they are getting underway with a Pilot Safety Study involving patients with C. Diff. GelTex intends to increase studies and trials as the year progresses. We have asked that they keep us informed with their progress so we can relay advancements as they come about. Here is a link to their site: www.GelTex.com . It seems that the race to conquer C. Diff is heating up!
12/20/00 - Site News: We are very excited that we have reached a milestone in the site's history. Up and running is a "mirrored" site at our very own web address. We have purchased server space and a web address of our own. Both sites are nearly identical and will feature the same information to our visitors. The new address is: www.cdiffsupport.com . Please bookmark this for your Clostridium Difficile Support Group Site address. We will continue to use GeoCities - but would eventually like to free up their space and use the new address exclusively. It's easier to remember also! Merry Christmas!
11/29/00 - General Site News: We
are very excited to announce that we are in contact with SYNSORB Biotech Inc.
We are discussing the possibility of working with them on the Clostridium
Difficile Support Group Site. This will also allow us to offer more
up-to-date news about their continuing clinical trials, which are now in Phase
III. We are very excited about their research - as they are the only
company we know of that is at this late stage of development for a product which
is designed specifically treat C. Diff. They also are working on another
clinical trial for a different illness. They are recruiting patients for
the Phase III clinical trials now. Our contact with them has been
extremely pleasant and they seem to be a helpful group of people. We urge
those of you who are interested to at least visit their site and check it out.

10/19/00 - Bulletin Board & General Site News: Bulletin Board Problems: In the past few weeks we have experienced problems with our Bulletin Board. The company that used to offer the board to us was bought out or taken over and we are suspecting that the problems are directly related. We are trying to contact that new company's customer support to resolve the issues. If you have problems posting in one thread - please use another one inside the C-diff boards. Please report problems immediately to cdiffhelp@yahoo.com
NEW Moderator: We have a long-time visitor who has volunteered to help with the site/board. Her name is "Bobbie". She will be helping by starting out as a moderator on the bulletin board. As I am sometimes away for weeks at a time, this is a very welcome helping hand to our "all volunteer" ran website.
Site Traffic: We are averaging 700+ hits per month!
Database Update: The Database was just updated. Thanks to all of you who generously gave your info (confidentially held - no identifying info contained). Your contribution will help someday. Thanks to all our regular visitors who unselfishly offer their support and advice - that's what this is all about! THANK YOU :)
8/1/00 - Site News: We are now a member of the Clostridium Difficile Web Ring. This should make our site more accessible in the future and allow people who are specifically interested in C. diff to navigate easily to other C. diff sites. Thank you for your support and best of health to all of you!
6/28/00 - Site News: For a short period of time, just after the major changes to the site took place, we had a "join" page available so that you could receive regular updates via e-mail/regular mail and join the C. Difficile Support Group. We have since decided that we would not be able to cover the increased costs of postage and connection time as compared to the response for donations. Donations that were sent to us will be promptly returned. We greatly appreciated the response from those of you who did. We will continue to post news here instead. Additionally, we will be adding a "research" link, where you can send in statistics online to us so that we can build a database and start tracking things such as: who gets c. diff, why they get it, prominent age groups, medications and treatments used and their success rates. We encourage you to visit this page - as we need your help to build this info database which may help doctors and ourselves understand why c. diff is increasing so quickly.
6/1/00 - Good News: The same professional has, again, contacted us to reassure us that he is continuing his work and is getting closer to some more definitive information for us. He asked that we keep specific information confidential until their research is closer to being complete.
3/25/00 - Good News Again: The professional whom we referred to in the 10/22/99 re-contacted us. To view an edited (for privacy) e-mail from him click HERE. They are still working on their product. Thanks to those of you who are writing in asking medical advice, HOWEVER, We must remind you that we cannot give specific advice for medical conditions.
2/26/00 - Just News: Still no word from volunteer companies or doctors. After some requests, we changed the text and background colors of some pages in the site to allow better printing capabilities if you want to print out pages. Please be sure to set your printer settings in your browser so that they do not print the background. That will save ink and make it easier to read - because it will only print the text. We liked the old colors better - but in this case form follows function. Many of you have written heart-touching letters of thanks for our work on the web site. We cannot express our gratitude enough for that. You all make this volunteer work worth it! The webmaster has a new job - and will be out of town for training through the middle of April - so we won't be able to respond to e-mails or make updates, etc. Thank you.
1/27/00 - Bad News: Referring to the Good News of 1/17/00 about the new page with companies; None of the companies we approached are willing to donate to the site AND pay a fee to have their company and product featured in depth. Because this is a volunteer web site, and we give up many hours of time away from our jobs, we felt it was fair to ask the companies (who make hundreds of thousands to millions each year) to pay small fees to be featured. Each one approached wanted their links to be reciprocal and without fees. Since our site directs people to their site for possible useful products - we would not benefit from a link on their site. We still have no doctors submitting information. We remain hopeful that greed will be overcome by humanity and that a company or doctor will come forth willing to submit information to help our visitors.
1/17/00 - Good News: Synsorb has been placed on the "fast track" by the FDA for certification in the US. They are in Phase 3 of their testing, after passing Phase 2 trials.
1/17/00 - Bad News: Referring to the Good News of 10/22/99 regarding the site being approached by a professional in the field; The person has not been contactable and has not contacted us since the initial conversation. Sorry.
1/17/00 - Good News: We are in the process of building a page within the site for companies who have specific products, medication or treatments for clostridium difficile. Check back with us for more developments. Or, if you have a product which can be considered for the treatment of c-diff - contact us!
10/22/99 - Good News: The C-diff Support Site has been approached recently by a professional in the field who specializes in supplements which may assist with avoiding or battling c-diff. We are anxiously awaiting word back from them and will keep you posted on new developments.
10/22/99 - Good News: Synsorb has come closer to a preventative treatment for c-diff.
